Medea adapted by Tadashi Kerren is based on the mythic character of the same name from Euripides’ classic tale, explores revenge and emotional responses to oppression. Medea sacrificed her family, her country, and her friends to help Jason become a great hero. Two children later, Jason leaves Medea for another woman, breaking his vows and standing by silently as she is cast out of the country she made her own. The story is told through flashbacks, and involves combat and humor while touching on issues of immigration.

Antigone Now by Melissa Cooper is inspired by Sophocles’ Antigone. An updated version of the myth of a woman who sacrifices her life to take action against an unjust law. Antigone considers the play between universal human rights and what can too often be arbitrary laws of society.
